George A. Smith, 94, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021. He was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Laughlintown, a son of the late John G. and Etta M. Phillippi Smith. He was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greensburg. George served within the Military. He was a graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Expertise, with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. Previous to retirement, he was employed as a gross sales engineer for Erie Metropolis Iron Works, of Erie, and Mine Security Home equipment, of Monroeville. Later, he was self-employed, submitting tax returns for small companies. He was a beneficiant, fun-loving, and delicate man with a deep Christian religion. He loved journey, pictures, puzzles and spending time on the cottage in Rector. Along with his dad and mom, he was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey E. Snell, and two brothers; Rev. J. Howard Smith and Gerald C. Smith. He’s survived by his spouse of 67 years, Mary Ann Rodes Smith; a daughter, Linda R. Smith, of Cumberland, Md.; a son, Gordon A. Smith, and Denise Lawson, of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren, of whom he was extraordinarily proud; Kirby A. Snell, of Chicago, In poor health., Whitney L. Snell, of Chicago, In poor health., and Tyler R. Snell, of Minneapolis, Minn.; a son-in-law, William Snell, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and a variety of nieces and nephews. Household and pals will likely be obtained from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. A funeral service will likely be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday within the funeral house. An extra celebration service will happen at a later date. The household needs to acknowledge Denise Lawson, neighbors Ken and Melinda Hebrank and the workers of Promise Hospice, particularly Trisha Quinn, for the standard and compassionate care that George obtained.
